This page explains where every date and time on calendar.pk comes from.

Hijri dates

Hijri dates start from the Umm al-Qura calendar tables, the tables used in Saudi Arabia and by most Islamic calendar software.

Pakistan follows local moon sighting, so a month can start a day earlier or later than the tables say. Once a month has begun its start is settled, so its dates are marked Confirmed. A month still ahead stays Calculated until it starts. An announcement from the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee corrects the start date.

The committee in Peshawar sometimes announces a different date. You can pick the authority on the converter and Ramadan pages.

Prayer times

Prayer times are calculated from the position of the sun at each city's coordinates. The default method is the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi, with the Hanafi Asr convention, which most mosques in Pakistan follow.

You can switch to the Muslim World League, ISNA, Egyptian or Umm al-Qura method, and to the Shafi Asr convention. City coordinates come from OpenStreetMap. All times are Pakistan Standard Time.

Ramadan

Sehri is the Fajr time and Iftar is the Maghrib time for the chosen city, listed for every day of the month. The first day of Ramadan follows the chosen moon-sighting authority.

Public holidays

National holidays follow the Government of Pakistan's official list. Religious holidays follow the Hijri dates above, so they carry the same Confirmed or Calculated label.

Accuracy

Dates outside the verified Umm al-Qura range are marked Approximate and may be off by a day. Prayer times are rounded to the minute. Your local mosque may follow slightly different times.

Who maintains this data

calendar.pk is built and maintained by Orbit Labs Pvt Limited, a company registered in Pakistan. Orbit Labs is responsible for the Islamic dates, prayer times and holiday data published here, and for correcting them when a moon-sighting authority announces a date.
